Netflix Half-Star Rating Bookmarklet

March 13th, 2011

Updated March 10, 2013

The Netflix half-star rating bookmarklet is a small piece of JavaScript I wrote to add half-star ratings without requiring a Greasemonkey script or Chrome extension, as Netflix Rating Granulizer does, since I use Camino for my general web browsing.

To use it, bookmark this link: Give Half-star Rating, then click or otherwise activate it on a Netflix movie detail page while you’re logged in.

Bookmarklet Crunchinator easily converted this script to bookmarklet form. (Thanks, Ted Mielczarek.)

  1. Thank you so much for posting this. I still have not tried it, since I’m not that well acquainted with Windows 7, but would often like to use the half star system after viewing Netflix movies. You are very generous in sharing this bookmarklet.

  2. I couldn’t figure out the grease monkey one (for me it only worked intermittently). However your javascript is genius.
Thank you very much for creating this.
    Enjoy~M

  3. This no longer works – it says it cannot find the Movie Detail page even when on it.

    • You’re right, Netflix changed the URL format on their site. I’ve made updates above.
